How to Do the Candida Diet Cleanse

You know you have a Candida overgrowth and you are ready to take action. The first thing you need to do is start with a Candida cleanse. The cleanse will last from 3-7 days and will jumpstart your body’s purge of the Candida albicans organism and toxins. It is very important that you follow the cleanse carefully and support yourself with lifestyle changes – lots of rest, nutrition, and relaxation. No stress.

What to Eat While Cleansing

This is the most difficult part of the cleanse because you are so limited in what you can eat. During this stage you will eat only raw or steamed vegetables.

Raw vegetables can be made into salads. Just switch up the ingredients so you have a wide variety of blends to choose from, avoiding boredom and a lack of appetite.

While raw vegetables are preferred, you may lightly steam your veggies if you feel as though you need something warm or that you simply can’t eat anymore raw. Lightly is the operative word here.

The more you cook your vegetables, the more nutritional value they’ll lose. Steamed veggies should be bright in color and be just barely fork tender while still slightly crisp. Grilling is a great option as well.

You will, of course, want to use a variety of spices and herbs to spice up your dishes. Salt, pepper, spices, herbs, and oils like EVOO and coconut oil can add flavor and depth to your recipes.

You do, thankfully, have several safe veggies to choose from and combine. Avocado, broccoli, green beans, onions, spinach and zucchini are all great places to start. You especially need to avoid starchy vegetables, anything that would add mold to your diet, and anything that would feed the Candida with sugar. You can also have fermented foods like raw sauerkraut and kimchi.

Fiber Supplements

Fiber supplements are incredibly important during this phase of the process. Fiber absorbs toxins and pulls water from the body, helping you to avoid the constipation and gastrointestinal distress often associated with Candida. Colonics aren’t necessary for those who aren’t having problems with their bowel movements because they will flush any good bacteria you might still have left out of your intestines.
